Welcome to The Pitch Minute!

I don't know about you, but I tend to get all my great ideas when I'm taking a shower. Perhaps it's because I can't access my phone and get distracted by news updates, texts and Facebook statuses, but there's something pretty eye opening for me whenever I hop in the shower and start to daydream.

So here's how a shower brainstorm led to my latest epiphany. As a publicist for more than 20 years, I have amassed a ton of media contacts. For the most part, these contacts are pretty receptive to my pitches but over the last year, it's become increasingly difficult to get them on the phone or via email. I have always found that the moment I have a face to face conversation with someone, I can usually convince them to book one of my clients but if you're avoiding my calls, emails and texts, what am I supposed to do to capture your attention? And that's when it hit me.

The Pitch Minute!

Forget about outdated voicemails that no one listens to anymore. I'm going to create customized videos with your name on them. The moment you click on the link, you'll be caught off guard because I'm speaking directly to you!

Plus, I'm going to be including pitch minutes for reporters and producers that they can view on my Facebook page or this website so they can get a glimpse at my clients and reach out to me to book an interview or review a product. And best of all, even if you're not my client, you can get in on the action and submit a pitch to me that can be used to pitch my elusive reporter friends. The same holds true for reporters - if you're looking for sources, we will help get the word out but the caveat will be - you need to send us your pitch via YouTube in one minute or less or else we won't share it with the reporter. A simple way for you to connect with media and a great way for media to cut through the clutter and get right to the point by watching pitches instead of being forced to delete hundreds of emails that are too long, too boring and sometimes even go to spam.

I'm also going to be sharing tips on pitches that work, pitches that stink and pitches that can lead to big opportunities. Not everyone is going to love being pitched through video - you have to know your audience, but more often than not, you'll find reporters with a sense of humor open to receiving a video greeting and a quick pitch that can ultimately lead to a booking.

So welcome friends to The Pitch Minute - if you've got one minute to spare, then this is the place for you!
